Building Missionary Sikes to Retire

April 27, 2010

Eddie Sikes, building superintendent for the BMA of Arkansas the last 31 years has announced his retirement effective May 31. He has been a faithful worker, a true asset to missions, as well as a wonderful friend. Eddie has served under three different directors: Stanley Beaird, Ed Stephenson and I.V. Hight. All concur that he has been a tremendous asset to missions.

He has worked on mission buildings in Arkansas, Texas, Tennessee and Oklahoma; working at over 20 locations in Arkansas alone. He has always moved onto the field and continued until the project was over. Eddie has also worked on the state and national office buildings on different projects. At times, he assisted churches when work was not available on state projects.

Different reasons bring his retirement. New city and state regulations are limiting the amount of work he can do himself. He further states that he and Carol, his faithful wife, wanted to do some traveling before they got to the point that they were not physically able to do so. He also plans to continue working with Masters Builders projects.

Eddie further states, “I have made a lot of friends over the years that I will miss seeing. My three directors have been very understanding and helpful. I do plan to continue attending the state and national meetings to see my many friends.”

“I appreciate all of the volunteer help through the years. It has been a privilege to serve my Lord and the BMA of Arkansas as your building superintendent. I count it a real blessing knowing that I have had a part in leading souls to Christ.”

The fine work Eddie has done is appreciated. We have forged a wonderful friendship over the years and look forward to that friendship growing. We will not try to replace him due to the changes in work circumstances. Even more important, ‘Where would we find another Bro. Eddie?’
